Coach Rob Ridings is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee and a graduate of South-Young High School.  He obtained a B.S. degree in Physical Education from Middle Tennessee State University, a M.Ed. from the State University of West Georgia and received an Educational Specialists degree from Lincoln Memorial University.  While attending M.T.S.U., Coach Ridings was a four year starter and letterman for the Blue Raiders.  During his collegiate playing days, Coach Ridings was a first team All-Ohio Valley Conference linebacker and served as team captain his senior year.  In 1983, Coach Ridings began his coaching career at M.T.S.U. as a graduate assistant coach.  The following year he was elevated to an assistant coach in which his duties included coaching the outside linebackers.  In 1985, Coach Ridings accepted a teaching and coaching position at LaGrange High School in LaGrange, Georgia where he became the Defensive Coordinator in 1987.  During his eight years at LaGrange High, they won four Region Championships, played for the South Georgia Championship twice and won the 1991 AAAA State Championship.  The 1991 State Championship team was also named the USA Today National Champs in high school football.

            He then moved to Griffin High School in Griffin, Georgia and served as Offensive Coordinator from 1993-1995.  In 1995, he accepted the position of Athletic Director at Troup High School in LaGrange, Georgia.  He also served as Head Football Coach for Troup High School from 1996-1998.

            In 1999, Coach Ridings was named Offensive Coordinator at Thomson High School in Thomson, Georgia under the legendary Coach Luther Welsh.  In five short years, the Bulldogs posted a 52-10 record with three Region Championships, one Region Runner-up and the 2002 AAAA State Championship.  The Bulldogs appeared in the state playoffs all five years in which Ridings was the Offensive Coordinator.  The Bulldogs 2002 State Championship team was prolific in averaging over 400 yards offense and scoring 43 points per game in route to a perfect 15-0 season.

            Coach Ridings is beginning his tenth year at the helm of the Glynn Academy Red Terrors.  Under Coach Ridings guidance, the Red Terror Football teams are 61--36 the past nine seasons, City Champs 2004, 2005 and 2011; reach the first round of the AAAAA state playoffs in 2005 and the first round of the AAAA playoffs in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and  2011.  In 2010 and 2012, The Red Terrors advanced to the second round of the AAAA and AAAAA play-offs for the first time in forty- two years. Overall, the Red Terrors have been to the State Play-offs Seven out of Nine years under Ridings.   He is married to the former Jane Anne Mills of LaGrange, Georgia.  They have three sons; Mills who is fourteen and twin boys Andrew and Davis, ages eleven.   Mills is currently an eighth grader at Glynn Middle and Andrew and Davis are sixth graders at Glynn Middle.   The Ridings are members of Wesley United Methodist Church @ Frederica.
