Mr. Birge is a native of Jacksonville, Florida. He received both his Undergraduate and Masters Degrees from Florida State University where he was actively involved in all aspects of the music program. He is currently in his 15th year of teaching and his 9th year as director at Brunswick High School.
Under his direction, and with the assistance of area middle school directors, the program has grown from 38 students to over 130. The Marching Band program has grown to be a symbol of pride for our school and community. The group traveled to Washington D.C. in 2011 to perform for the 100th Anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and is scheduled to perform in the 2014 Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade . The concert program has evolved into a program worthy of commendation, routinely performing G.M.E.A. Level V and VI literature. The jazz program, while extra-curricular, continues to play quality selections for area events and festivals.

Kathryn Sadowski (Counselor, Brunswick High School)
Mrs. Sadowski is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!). She worked in special education for six years before becoming a school counselor after she received her Master of Arts in Counseling Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2005, Mrs. Sadowski moved to Brunswick where she is currently in her eighth year at Brunswick High School. In 2011 and 2012, she received the Region XII Secondary Counselor of the Year. She is currently working on her Education Specialist Degree in Counselor Education from the University of Alabama. This is Mrs. Sadowski’s second year serving as the Auxiliary Coordinator for the Brunswick High School Marching Pirates. She lives in Brunswick with her husband, Chris, and their sons, Robby and Nicholas.
