Lesson Plans » Trans Math
Trans Math is a new math program that some 6th-8th grade students are involved in. This program takes the concepts of mathematics back to the basics, beginning with addition and subtraction. It truly focuses on the things that students may have missed in earlier grades, and helps students understand how to appropriately solve problems. Trans Math provides much re-teaching and reinforcement so students are successful.
Each student enrolled in Trans Math has an individual log-in and password to use to get into the Trans Math Vport System. Log-In information is:
User Name: child's first and last name (e.g. johnsmith)
Password: child's pin number (e.g. 12345)
Students have access to their textbook and the teacher click-thru for each lesson in the Trans Math system. If they happen to leave their homework at school, you are able to access their homework on the Trans Math site as well!
I have also assigned each student individual assignments to be completed on the computer. They may do these at school or at home. After 5 lessons, students are given a quiz to assess their ability to grasp the concept being taught. The students who do not score 80% or higher will receive additional re-teaching segments. Students who are at 80% (or higher) proficiency receive an “On-Track Extension Activity” to complete. These activities allow students to extend their learning and work together to solve problems.
Please feel free to visit the Trans Math site. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
http://www.vmathlive.com is a wonderful website where students can go to reinforce what they are learning in the classroom. They can visit this site at home as well. On VMathLive, students can play games with other students around the country!
