The Glynn County School System will hold a “Registration Blitz” for parents/guardians who are enrolling their child in school in Glynn County for the first time from Wednesday, Aug. 1 through Friday, Aug. 3. The blitz will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day (with extended hours on Thursday, Aug. 2 until 6 p.m.) at the Central Registration Office, which will be permanently relocated to the Risley Annex building at 2900 Albany Street in Brunswick (formerly Risley Early College Academy).
The Registration Blitz is only for parents/guardians of children who did not attend public school in Glynn County last year. Parents should bring their child’s certified birth certificate, Social Security card, current proof of immunization (GA Form 3231), a current eye, ear and dental certificate (GA Form 3300), custody documentation (if necessary), current proof of residency and parent/guardian photo identification. Following registration, parents/guardians will receive documents that they must take to the school for which their home address is zoned to complete the enrollment process.
To kick off the start of the 2012-13 school year, which begins on Thursday, Aug. 9, public schools will hold Open House events on two days depending on the school grade level. Open House provides parents and students an opportunity to meet teachers and school faculty and to familiarize themselves with school campuses. Parents will also receive important information and documents pertinent to the coming school year.
Open House at all middle schools and high schools will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6. The Golden Isles Career Academy will hold Open House on that date from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to allow parents to visit both the Career Academy and their child's base high school.
Open House for all elementary schools, the FACES prekindergarten center and Leaps and Bounds will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7. Parents will not be able to register students who are new to the Glynn County School System at Open House events.
For more information about the Registration Blitz or central registration process, call the Central Registration Office at 912-280-4010.
Parents who need to know the school for which their child is zoned to attend should call the Transportation Department at 912-267-4120.
