Brunswick High School’s Chris Trimmings and Glynn Academy’s Jonathan Alford were recently honored as Most Valuable Player for their respective teams in the annual City Championship football game held at Glynn County Stadium on Friday, Aug. 31. The awards were presented by game co-sponsors United Community Bank and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at a special ceremony attended by the players’ family members and coaches. Each player received a plaque and a savings account at United Community Bank with an opening balance of $100.

Brunswick High School defeated Glynn Academy 28-26 in a thrilling game that was not decided until the final seconds when the Pirates stopped a two-point conversion attempt by the Terrors. Trimmings, who plays receiver and defensive back, had three catches for 41 yards and a 62-yard punt return that set up the Pirates’ winning touchdown. Alford plays running back and had 202 yards rushing on 36 carries.
