Information for Parents about the Common Core Curriculum
Beginning in August, Georgia students will follow the Common Core Curriculum in Mathematics and English Language Arts. Officials at the Georgia Department of Education, as well as the Glynn County Schools, have provided training for teachers in the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards for these subjects. At Oglethorpe Point, teachers have spent many hours planning together to integrate these standards into both our existing units, as well as in the creation of new units. The teachers regularly reflect upon and edit units, and adjusting them for the Common Core was facilitated by Oglethorpe Point's Instructional Coach, Faye Barnett. We are excited to begin our journey into Common Core, and feel sure that our faculty and staff will do an excellent job in transitioning into these new standards. Information for parents of students at each grade level has been published by the National PTA. Please use the links below to read those brochures. Kindergarten Also, please take a look at some of the new Common Core links used by our teachers. This information is quite helpful in understanding the new standards that are soon to roll out.
