To kick off the start of the 2012-13 school year, public schools in Glynn County will hold Open House events on two days depending on the school grade level.  Open House provides parents and students an opportunity to meet teachers and school faculty and to familiarize themselves with school campuses.  Parents will also receive important information and documents pertinent to the coming school year.

Open House at all middle schools and high schools including the Golden Isles Career Academy will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 6. Open House for all elementary schools, the FACES prekindergarten center and Leaps and Bounds will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7.

The 2012-13 school year will begin on Thursday, Aug. 9.

Parents will not be able to register students who are new to the Glynn County School System at Open House events. The Glynn County School System utilizes a centralized registration process for parents who are enrolling their child in school in Glynn County for the first time. Parents should visit the Central Registration Office in the Annex III building at 801 Mansfield Street and bring their child’s certified birth certificate, Social Security card, current proof of immunization (GA Form 3231), a current eye, ear and dental certificate (GA Form 3300), custody documentation (if necessary), current proof of residency and parent/guardian photo identification. For more information, call 912-280-4010.

Parents who need to know the school for which their child is zoned to attend should call the Transportation Department at 267-4120.

It is the policy of the Glynn County School System not to discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, marital status, disability or any other legally protected status in its educational programs, activities or employment practices.
