Ideas for Integrating these standards into Units

  • Using the Greek/Latin roots listed in the "Oakmill" document below, or in prefixes/suffixes books below, students brainstorm sentences that describe particular characters or situations in books such as Among the Hidden or Who Was Neil Armstrong?.
  • Students create a Wordle that includes words with Greek/Latin roots/affixes, using words they generated in sentences above.
  • Create a concentration/memory card game where students must match roots/affixes and their meanings. Students cannot pick up the matching cards to score a point unless they can use the root in a sentence about the unit....
